Togo: Popularization of the National Water Code as part of the World Water Day Festival

Ensuring universal access to water and sanitation and ensuring the sustainable management of water resources by 2030 is Goal 6 of the SDGs. Water contributes is needed for promotion and protection og health and environmental well-being.

As a prelude to the World Water Day to be celebrated on 22 March, a two-day workshop on the National Water and Wastewater Management Code opened in Lomé this 15th of March 2017.

Organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Water, it brought together differnt actors including different departments of the water sector and journalists.  The objective of the workshop is  to to build the capacity of different actors on fundamental rules and principles applicable to the distribution , use, protection and management of water resources. The main idea behind the capacity building initiative is to promote consumer awareness for better water management.
